ABOUT THE INSTALLATION "GUITAR (S)HERO"

Céline B. La Terreur is interested in the many personas of women. She manipulates her own image through a staging process.

Her photographs document her body, creating therefore a vast range of costumes and attitudes. Her self-portraits are filled with humor and satire.

In the Guitar S(Hero) series, two characters are personified : the rock star and the dominatrix. These women fascinate Céline B. La Terreur, as they show publiclytheir power, their control, their rebellion and their confidence.

The artist't body is therefore replayed reinvented, and reveals the image of a woman who thirsts for control, assertiveness, elegance and power.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE "TOTAL RAPE OF PERSONALITY"

"TOTAL RAPE OF PERSONALITY" is how Freud described the technique of hypnosis, a technique that he has experimented at some point in his career and then decided to reject (since he considered hypnosis to be a "total rape of personality" of the subject). (1)

Céline B. La Terreur has tried hypnosis with a professional hypnotherapist in 2009 and has continued to use this relaxation technique by learning how to induce herself into a hypnotic state of consciousness. She has developped her own meditation technique, using a personal blend of meditation and prayer under hypnosis.

On April 14, 2012, Céline B. La Terreur performed inside the installation GUITAR (S)HERO, lying on a white table, dressed as a dominatrix, and induced herself into a state of hypnosis for a total duration of 6 hours (she took 3 breaks of 30 minutes over a period of 7:30 hours). On that day,
3 200 people have walked and observed Céline B. La Terreur, as she was in a hypnotic trance.

For this performance, the artist has tried the hynosis technique of Abbé Faria, a founding father of hypnosis. Abbé Faria's technique is renowned to be "authoritarian" and "dominating"(2). While under hypnosis, during this performance, the artist has programmed her mind to dozens of suggestions on art, power, authority and music.
